All votes have officially been counted and, with a handful of exceptions, we have our matchups for the general election in November.

All eyes are on the congressional race in CD3 to replace Rep. Ruben Gallego, who is running for Sinema’s U.S. Senate seat. As results came in last week, the initial batches favored Yassamin Ansari, the former Phoenix City Councilmember running against former lawmaker Raquel Terán. However, that margin got thinner and thinner over the weekend as results continued to come in. As of the final count yesterday, Ansari only leads Terán by 42 votes. With 42,819 ballots counted for that race, that’s a razor-thin margin of 0.1 percentage points.

This race will automatically head to a recount, as required under Arizona law when the margin is .5 percentage points or less. We can expect a deadline for the recount to be determined next week.

While an official canvass is necessary before results are considered final, our spreadsheet reflects the unofficial results—and the matchups we can expect in November. The canvass must be completed by August 15.

The following races will automatically head to a recount:

Congressional District 3 (D)

Yassamin Ansari (44.6%)

Raquel Terán (44.5%)

City of Mesa – Mayor

Scott Smith (29.17%)

Mark Freeman (28.73%)

City of Scottsdale – Mayor

David Ortega (40.66%)

Lisa Borowsky (38.74%)
